Privacy

This site is run by the PS 889 Parent Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It's intended for parents, guardians, and adult community members. We try to collect as little information as possible — only what we need to run the PA and improve the site.

What we collect

Anonymous usage analytics. We use PostHog to count pageviews, button clicks, and form submissions in aggregate. We don't link these to your identity, we don't record your screen, and we don't use autocapture. The data is sent through this site's own domain and stored in PostHog's US cloud.

Information you submit on a form. When you propose an agenda item, sign up to volunteer, or contact us, the information you type — name, email, topic, and so on — is emailed to the board (via Resend) and, for volunteer signups, saved to our internal records so we can follow up with you.

Server logs. Our host (Vercel) keeps short-lived request logs for security and reliability. These contain things like IP address and user agent and are purged automatically.

What we don't do

  • We don't use advertising or remarketing pixels (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, TikTok, etc.).
  • We don't record your browsing session or capture screen recordings.
  • We don't sell or rent personal information. Ever.
  • We don't track you across other websites.

Third parties we rely on

Running this site means a handful of trusted vendors process some data on our behalf:

  • Vercel — hosting, file storage, and request logs.
  • PostHog — anonymous usage analytics.
  • Resend — transactional email when you submit a form.
  • Google Calendar — we display public PA and school events from a read-only Google Calendar.
  • Google Translate — optional translation widget in the footer. Translation is performed by Google when you choose a language.

Children's privacy

This website is intended for parents, guardians, and other adults involved with the PS 889 community. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, please email us and we'll delete it.

How long we keep things

Analytics data is kept for a rolling 12 months and then aggregated or removed. Volunteer signup records are retained as long as they're useful for that program — typically the school year — after which they're archived or deleted. Email sent through the site is governed by Resend's retention policy. You can ask us to delete records about you at any time.
